Carbonsafe Presented Carbon Farming to the Academic Community

On February 11, 2026, Chavdar Marinov, Executive Director of Carbonsafe, participated as a guest lecturer at the Institute of Agricultural Economics during one of its regular scientific seminars. The event brought together representatives of the academic community, researchers, and experts engaged in developing sustainable economic models in agriculture.

During the lecture, the fundamentals of carbon farming were presented, along with its role in the modern economy from both an environmental and financial perspective. Special emphasis was placed on the scientific approach to measuring and reporting soil carbon, the importance of annual physical soil sampling, and the link between agronomic practices and measurable climate outcomes.

The economic rationale behind carbon projects was also discussed, highlighting how they create added value for farmers through resource optimization, improved soil health, and access to voluntary carbon markets. The European regulatory framework was outlined as well, positioning carbon farming within the context of the EU’s evolving climate and agricultural policies.

The discussion following the lecture underscored the importance of collaboration between scientific institutions and business in developing innovative and sustainable solutions. Carbonsafe’s participation in such forums reflects the company’s commitment to fostering informed dialogue and building a bridge between academic research and practical implementation in agriculture.
