What is Carbonsafe?
Carbonsafe is the first Bulgarian carbon farming program that supports farmers in applying regenerative practices based on 100% annual soil sampling and provides them with the opportunity to earn additional income through carbon credits.
Each farmer enrolled in the program receives:
- A personalized strategy for optimizing farm processes;
- Agronomic recommendations based on laboratory testing;
- The opportunity to earn additional income from carbon credits transparently registered in the public Balkan Carbon Credits Registry (BCCR).
Steps for Effective Seasonal Planning
- Soil Condition Analysis
Laboratory test results show carbon content, macro- and microelements, pH, and other key indicators. This is the first step towards optimal land management. - Fertilization Optimization
Tailored to the actual needs of the soil, leading to:
- 50% less fertilizer use;
- Reduced costs;
- Healthier soils and higher yields.
- Application of Regenerative Practices
Including:
- Minimum or no-till soil cultivation;
- Cover crops;
- Crop rotation.
These methods improve soil structure, retain moisture, and increase carbon content.
- Long-Term Planning
Carbonsafe works with a 5-year sustainable management plan, offering ex-post credits – a guarantee that emissions have already been reduced and certified before sale.

Who Can Join?
