The farms are located in the Northeastern Region of Bulgaria – Voyvoda village, Zhilino village, Mirovtsi village, and the town of Novi Pazar, Novi Pazar Municipality, Shumen Province; Tsani Ginchevo village, Nikola Kozlevo Municipality, Shumen Province; Zarnevo village, Nova Kamena village, and Orlyak village, Tervel Municipality, Dobrich Province; Nova Shipka village, Dolni Chiflik Municipality, Varna Province.
The farms grow plums, pears, apples, and pastureland.
Transformative carbon sequestration project aimed at enhancing soil health and capturing atmospheric carbon through sustainable agricultural practices. By implementing techniques like cover cropping, crop rotation, and reduced tillage, farmers in the area are working to sequester carbon in the soil, improving biodiversity and resilience to climate change. This project will not only help mitigate emissions but also provide economic benefits to local farmers through the generation of carbon credits.
