Subject: Public consultation on a new version of the “Methodology for Enhancing and Reporting the Level of Carbon Sequestration in Soil in the Agricultural Sector” v3.2/17.07.2026
Carbonsafe JSC informs all interested parties that the Balkan Carbon Credit Registry (BCCR) has opened a public consultation on the proposed new version of the “Methodology for Enhancing and Reporting the Level of Carbon Sequestration in Soil in the Agricultural Sector” v3.2/17.07.2026.
The methodology was developed by Agviser JSC, and version v3.2/17.07.2026 has been proposed for approval under the Balkan Carbon Credit Standard (BCCS).
The public consultation provides stakeholders, experts and members of the public with an opportunity to review the proposed amendments and submit their opinions, recommendations and comments.

The methodology is intended for the agricultural sector and establishes a framework for enhancing and reporting the level of carbon sequestered in soil, while also contributing to improved soil health, biodiversity, and environmental and climate protection.
Key Proposed Amendments
The main amendments introduced in version v3.2/17.07.2026 relate to:
● soil bulk density and the approach used for its determination;
● timelines and conditions for initiating verification;
● the definition and scope of a “package of agricultural practices”.
For the purposes of the public consultation, a clean version of the methodology, a Track Changes version, and a summary of the amendments have been published.
Public Consultation Period
The public consultation will take place from 01.09.2026 to 30.09.2026.
During this period, interested parties may review the documentation and submit their comments and opinions.

Next Steps
Following the conclusion of the public consultation, all submitted opinions and comments will be reviewed and taken into consideration. The Balkan Carbon Credit Registry will publish a summary of the consultation results, along with information on any subsequent changes made to the proposed version of the methodology.
